Two Dogs Up is me, Patricia Harris Pointing! I live in Ontario, Canada with three dogs and two teenagers and one cat and one husband. I used to be a biologist and university professor and rode horses; now i am now a stay at home mom and leatherworker, and do dog agility and scentwork and dog parkour.
Because I spent 40+ years in the horse world, quality leather made into durable strong equipment is very important to me. Therefore, I hand sew all my collars and other leather pieces. Hand sewing (saddle stitching) is less apt to unravel if damaged than machine (interlock) sewing, and, unlike rivets or screws, you can easily SEE what condition the stitching is in, so there will be no unexpected failures if you’ve been paying attention. Unless the stitching is damaged, the leather will almost always break before stitching gives way. And of course it has the classic appearance of quality tack and leather goods down through the centuries.
I like experimenting with colors, patterns, textures, new methods… I will happily remake a previous design for you in your size and with your customizations, but my passion is playing with new and creative designs. I don’t think you will find any other maker doing a lot of the things i am doing here! And if you have an idea rattling around in your head, I would love to help make it reality.
